They watch as I demonstrate the first few times. I enlarge the paper I'm working on so they can all see when we gather at the carpet area. I also use the words: small, tall, and letters that fall. We also chart the letters that are small, tall, and fall so they can refer to this chart while writing.krosehttp://krose@dsdk12.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2170231869613914802.post-87927963909429393532011-04-02T17:20:55.459-04:002011-04-02T17:20:55.459-04:00My tip is: we teach our firsties the "names&...My tip is: we teach our firsties the "names" of the lines. The top one is the hat line, the dotted line is the belt line and the bottom one is the shoes line. The space between the lines is called the "danger zone" and only naughty letters go there. When teaci g letter formation we use these names and the children respond pretty well We refer to these lines all year and it works!!Conchyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07329372236583629274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2170231869613914802.post-59497805144685325442011-04-02T17:17:02.795-04:002011-04-02T17:17:02.795-04:00I follow your TpT store.

It is a way to remind them to sit up straight in their chairs, have one hand holding the paper and have a good grip on the pencil. We do lazy writing where we are lounging in our chair, don't hold on to our pencils and have little to no control over our marker (using a marker really shows them control). Works every time :)Ms. Littlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07304549118525957624noreply@blogger.com
