29 page SMARTboard unit to teach letter formation from A-Z. Includes a practice page after most teaching pages and virtual modeling at the click of a button. I used the recordable feature of the SMARTboard and when you press play, students will see the letters written "magically" on the SMARTboard. This feature could not be used with the curved letters, however. I use this every year to teach handwriting in a fun way. Also includes the words of a song to teach proper handwriting skills. Everything you need to teach handwriting in a fun and engaging way.
I would like a 'tester' for this unit so I would like to give one away so you can test it out and give any thoughts/suggestions and rate it on TeachersPayTeachers. Winner will need to email an email address in order for me to send the file via email.

Winner selected and announced on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m.

I would love to test out your SMART Board handwriting unit! I am now a follower of your blog and a follower of you on TpT. My best handwriting tip is this: When we practice handwriting, students trade papers and choose their partner's best letter and/or word and circle it. Their handwriting really improved when I encouraged them to make it difficult for their partners to choose because they've written every letter or word so beautifully!

Would L.O.V.E. to test this lesson!! Hoping I can upload it to SMARTexchange to download to my Promethean board.
My best handwriting tip (toy) is the use of 'spacemen' for my firsties to use for proper spacing between words. The love them and take such good care of them, returning them back into their 'spaceships' each day. : )

My best tip is... Modeling on my Smartboard!I also have my Kinders come model for their friends. While I/they are doing this, my Kinders use their own mini whiteboards for individual practice.

My handwriting tip: I talk about control, control your pencil, control your paper, control your body, EVERY DAY! It is a way to remind them to sit up straight in their chairs, have one hand holding the paper and have a good grip on the pencil. We do lazy writing where we are lounging in our chair, don't hold on to our pencils and have little to no control over our marker (using a marker really shows them control). Works every time :)

My tip is: we teach our firsties the "names" of the lines. The top one is the hat line, the dotted line is the belt line and the bottom one is the shoes line. The space between the lines is called the "danger zone" and only naughty letters go there. When teaci g letter formation we use these names and the children respond pretty well We refer to these lines all year and it works!!

I follow your blog. I would love to test your Smartboard Activity. I just got mine.
I also follow your TPT items. This item is $6 on TPT.
My best handwriting tip is to use grass, sky, and ground paper for the first few lesson. I draw grass, a cloud, and roots on the penmanship paper. They watch as I demonstrate the first few times. I enlarge the paper I'm working on so they can all see when we gather at the carpet area. I also use the words: small, tall, and letters that fall. We also chart the letters that are small, tall, and fall so they can refer to this chart while writing.

I would love to test your Smart Board handwriting unit. I teach 1st grade so this would be prefect. I like to use the spacemen for spacing and call it space writing. I am already a follower of your blog.

Hello! I follow your blog and love it. In terms of handwriting, I refer to the lines on the paper as skyline, planeline, grass-line, and worm-line.

I would LOVEe this unit. I really hate teaching handwriting, but I do love it more on the smartboard. I just pull up a sheet of handwriting lines and we practice. The kids love when I show them wrong letters and have them tell me what is wrong with it. And they LOVE having the chance to write on the smartboard.

My best handwriting tip is having my kids "write" the morning message. I love seeing the growth from no-letter formation in the fall, to the kids writing by the end of the year. It is amazing at what these kids are capable of!

Hi Leslie- it's been a long time!
I love your blog and your TPT items and would love to test your handwriting lesson!

My handwriting tip is to incorporate correct handwriting lessons in everything I do on the SMARTBoard or paper charts during the day. For example, when I notice students aren't starting capital letters at the top line, I'll make a point of modeling that writing.

My best tip for handwriting is having a "space man" a popsicle stick that they use to make sure they are leaving spaces between words in their writing. I hope I win this! I would love to use this during centers for handwriting practice!

I have several faves, but a few of them have been mentioned by PP, One of my faves not mentioned is to highlight the the area between the bottom line and the midline to give my kids a visual of where there lowercase "little" letters need to stay. This extra color has made a big difference for a few of my strugglers at both 1st and 2nd grade
